Anker Prime 20,000 mAh Powerbank Review – Your Multi-Device Charging Saviour

This review highlights the Anker Prime 20,000 mAh power bank’s impressive features, including its compact design, 200W combined output power for fast multi-device charging, and unique smart display offering comprehensive information like remaining battery life, battery health, and even screen brightness adjustments. The premium design, thoughtful features, and competitive price make this power bank a top contender in the market.

Anker Prime Power Bank Review – The Anker Prime Power Bank lineup is a series of multi-device USB-C fast charging power banks released by Anker this year (2023). This will be a review of the 20,000 mAh capacity power bank, priced at 229.95$ AUD. But note that other capacities are also available: 12,000 mAh (169.95$ AUD) and 27,650 mAh (299.95$ AUD).

Packaging and design

Along with the power bank, the packaging contains a microfibre/cloth carrying case (which – I might add – looks and feels quite premium), a 60 cm USB-C cable, a quick start guide, as well as a safety instruction manual.

Although the power bank’s dimensions (approximately 52mm x 42 mm x 123 mm) and weight (522 g) make it a bit unwieldy to hold, its overall compact volume is impressive given its 20,000 mAh capacity. For best comfort, though, I’d suggest placing it on a table or in your bag when on the go while charging your devices, rather than carrying it in your pocket or holding it.

Visually, I think it definitely has a robust and premium aesthetic with its all metal case, sizable screen up front, and 3 ports (2 USB-C and 1 USB-A) on top. A side button allows you to turn on the power bank and cycle through display options, which will be discussed later. While the screen tends to attract fingerprints, I found that the carrying case can double as a microfibre cloth for convenient cleaning.

Features

Multi-Device Fast Charging

  • The power bank supports a total of 200W combined output power across the 3 ports: a 100W USB-C1 port, 60W USB-C2 port, and 40W USB-A port, which facilitates fast multi-device charging of up to 3 devices. If you rely on multiple devices throughout the day, such as a smartphone, laptop, tablet, or wireless earbuds, the Anker Prime’s triple device charging saves you time and minimises the need for multiple charging stations or outlets.
  • A trickle-charging mode is available for smaller devices like earbuds to prevent overcharging and minimise damage to their batteries. Activating this mode involves a double-click on the side button, with a subsequent double-click to exit.
  • You can also utilise the Anker 100W charging base (sold separately) to wirelessly recharge the power bank.

Smart Display

  • The standout feature of the Anker Prime Power Bank series is its smart display, offering comprehensive information rarely found in other power banks. The side button allows you to cycle through the 4 screen options.
  • The first screen not only displays the remaining battery %, but also the remaining battery in hours and minutes, and this switches to remaining recharging time when the power bank is being charged. This screen also presents the USB input and output information in watts. I definitely found it useful to know how long I have left to charge, and how much power is being consumed or delivered.
  • Switching to the second screen presents you with battery health, battery cycle, and battery temperature information. This gives you a general overview of the power bank’s internal condition and its performance over time.
  • The third screen displays the auto screen timeout settings, allowing you to set screen timeout after 30s, 1 minute, 5 minutes, or 30 minutes.
  • The final screen displays screen brightness options, allowing you to toggle between high and medium brightness settings.
