StoreDot, an Israeli company, demoed a new battery innovation that will allow you to charge your smartphone in less than a minute. Yes, 30 seconds, in fact (to fully charge a Samsung GALAXY phone on the demo video).
Our current Lithium-ion batteries have been around for too long and these days, our devices are hungry for more and more power. With most phones that don’t last a day (if you game or touch the screen a lot), this is a game changer.
This “better-than-lithium” battery is unfortunately not on sale yet and it may still be a few years before it comes to consumers in perfection (if at all). The demo looks promising though and proves that this is no fairy tale.
Here is the demo video from StoreDot:
Lots of questions remain, however. Will this make it as the battery that will replace Lithium-ion battery? How much will it cost? Can they reduce the size of the charger? How much power does the battery hold?
Nevertheless, it’s definitely a step toward that next generation battery we are all waiting for.
