Beatbot AquaSense Pro Review – Cordless Pool Cleaning Made Effortless

I’ve finally gotten my hands on the Beatbot AquaSense Pro retailing for A$3,499—the world’s first cordless, 5-in-1 pool vacuum. As someone who has relied on a corded model for over a year to clean our swimming pool, I know how tedious pool cleaning can be, especially when dealing with lingering debris like leaves in the Spring. The idea of a cordless upgrade with a full-surface cleaning capability is exciting, especially since I previously had to manually skim the pool before vacuuming.

Our pool is about 12 metres in length, with a depth ranging from 1.5 to 1.7 metres. While we keep it covered most of the time, leaves inevitably gather, clogging up the surface. The AquaSense Pro aims to tackle all of that, featuring 9 motors and a powerful 5500 GPH suction system. And it’s not just about cleaning the bottom—this machine promises to handle the waterline, floor, walls, and even surface debris with ease. With the added Black Friday and Cyber Monday discount, this top-of-the-line vacuum drops from $3,499 to $2,899, making it an especially tempting upgrade. So let’s see if it lives up to the hype.

UNPACKING AND SET UP

Inside the AquaSense Pro box, you’ll find the essentials: the robotic pool cleaner itself, a charging dock, a hook for easy retrieval, and a Quick Start Guide with a User Manual. AquaSense also offers a Beatbot clarifying agent, sold separately in pairs for AU$49.99. This non-toxic, 300ml solution is designed to bind dirt, grease, and microscopic particles, enhancing water clarity. A single bottle lasts about a month with weekly use, and pairing it with the AquaSense Pro optimises the cleaner’s filtration performance.

Setting up the AquaSense Pro is refreshingly simple. A QR code on the device links directly to a setup video, guiding you through everything in under five minutes. Their website offers a thorough, easy-to-follow video guide for additional support. Navigating the AquaSense app is intuitive, offering quick access to cleaning modes and real-time updates, making this cleaner as user-friendly as it is effective. It includes multiple cleaning modes (Quick, Standard, Pro, ECO, and Custom) that users can choose based on their needs and circumstances

DESIGN AND BUILD

The AquaSense Pro by Beatbot is an impressive robotic pool cleaner, seamlessly blending elegant design with high functionality. Its sleek metallic blue finish, which won the 2024 iF Design Award, showcases both style and durability. And I really, really like how good it looks.

I’ve noticed that powerful pool vacuums are often quite heavy; our last model weighed 11.5 kg, while the AquaSense Pro is slightly lighter at 11 kg. Its high-capacity 24-cell lithium-ion battery offers up to 9.5 hours in surface mode, making frequent recharging unnecessary. It’s equipped with 10400mAh battery.

Here is a comparison with what we use at home (corded – on the left vs AquaSense Pro on the right):

The dual-layer filter is excellent, capturing particles as small as 150 microns. I also appreciate the clear LED indicators: Green for full charge, Yellow at 15-30%, and Orange when the battery is low. The AquaSense Pro even returns to the surface and parks itself when the battery runs low or a cleaning cycle is complete. Additionally, the compact charging dock prevents tangled cords, ensuring a clutter-free pool area.

CLEANING PERFORMANCE

The AquaSense Pro by Beatbot is a powerful, smart robotic pool cleaner designed to handle even the most demanding pool cleaning needs. My first experience with the Quick Mode was straightforward but left room for improvement. Quick Mode ran for 63 minutes, focusing solely on the pool floor, which was useful since I needed a fast clean before leaving the house.

However, I noticed the cleaning path mapping wasn’t yet perfect; the AquaSense Pro seemed to be calibrating and finding its way, so some areas, like the pool steps, weren’t thoroughly cleaned. Despite this, it managed to clear most of the debris on the pool floor, especially leaves and light particles.

Switching to Pro Mode, I was impressed with its thoroughness. Pro Mode cleans the floor, walls, waterline, and even the surface—ideal for when you need a deep clean without the hassle of additional scooping. This mode is a serious time-saver, providing a comprehensive clean while leaving minimal residue. I also appreciated AquaSense’s dual-layer filtration system, capturing particles as fine as 150 microns, making a noticeable difference in water clarity after a single session.

One thing to note before using any cleaning mode is to monitor water chemistry. My pool turned green previously due to algae growth, which flourishes under extreme weather and prolonged sunlight. Pre-checking chemical levels is always a good idea to avoid green pool water, especially if the AquaSense will be running for an extended period.

BEATBOT AQUASENSE PRO REVIEW CONCLUSION

The Beatbot AquaSense Pro offers a compelling blend of convenience and innovation, particularly for pool owners eager to ditch the hassle of cords or looking for pool maintenance automation. Its cordless design is a standout feature, freeing up your pool area and making storage and handling much simpler. The low noise level and thorough scrubbing capabilities add to its appeal, creating a quieter, efficient cleaning experience. It will also park itself for easy retrieval once it’s done its thing.

For those accustomed to the daily grind of manually skimming leaves, scrubbing pool walls, and vacuuming debris, the Beatbot AquaSense Pro feels like a game-changer. The cordless design and robust cleaning modes free you from the hassle of repetitive maintenance, allowing you to reclaim precious time. Instead of struggling with nets and manual vacuums, the Beatbot Pro’s powerful suction and wall-to-waterline cleaning capabilities handle the heavy lifting for you. It’s not just about convenience—it’s about transforming pool upkeep into a hands-free, stress-free experience that keeps your pool looking pristine with minimal effort.

However, the device isn’t without its drawbacks. The algorithm’s pool area detection can be hit-and-miss, especially for non-rectangular pools, which is a bit disappointing given its promise to support various pool shapes. While the surface cleaning is decent, it’s not entirely thorough, and you can’t cancel a cleaning operation mid-cycle or control more operations via the app, which can be annoying to some users who want some degree of controls. Additionally, there’s no way to track how much of the cleaning cycle has been completed, leaving users guessing about its progress.

Despite these limitations, the Beatbot AquaSense Pro’s powerful suction, reliable battery life, and ability to scrub walls, floors, and waterlines make it a worthy investment for those seeking a modern, mostly hands-free pool cleaning solution. If you’re willing to overlook its quirks, it offers a significant step forward in pool maintenance convenience—especially at its discounted Black Friday price at the moment.

There is also hope for future firmware updates to make it smarter and fix its quirks, along with more controls in the app. However, nothing has been promised yet and it’s always better to make a purchase decision not based on promises or future-potential updates.

Beatbot AquaSense Pro normally retails for A$3,499 but there is a $400 discount deal going on at the moment over at their website.
