Mophie Juice Pack Air for iPhone 6 Review – Yeah, sure, Apple iPhone 6 is very slim but it comes at a price. A slimmer body means that you can’t put more battery in it, which will add bulk and weight. As a result, iPhone 6 can barely hold a day’s charge (depending on what you do with the phone, I guess). Though I can comfortably keep the battery level to around 60-70% by the end of the day, I don’t really use it as much as most iPhone users.
If you frequently use your iPhone 6 when you commute, for example, battery can drain like there is no tomorrow. That’s one of the reasons why you need this Mophie Juice Pack Air for iPhone 6 Battery Case.
It’s pretty much the same Mophie battery case that some of you may have familiar with (or use one in the past). For example, it has the same resemblance to Mophie Juice Pack Helium Case for the iPhone 5s that I reviewed in the past. The Mophie Juice Pack Air consists of 2 parts, which makes it easier to slide your iPhone 6 into the case (rather than forcing it to).
The inner layers are soft enough that the iPhone 6 can slide in without scratching the case’s hard surface. The top part of the case seals the iPhone with the bottom part of the case, where the Lightning connector is. Mophie Juice Pack Air itself has to be charged through microUSB – which will then charge the iPhone 6 first, and the case after your iPhone’s battery is full. Neat.
Mophie Juice Pack Air for iPhone 6 houses a 2,750mAh battery, compared to iPhone 6’s 1,810mAh. If it’s not good enough for you, Mophie has another model that houses 3,300mAh battery instead, the Juice Pack Plus. Of course, it’s bulkier and heavier because of the extra juice. For most people like myself, being able to recharge the phone at least once in a day is good enough. But even if the Juice Pack Air is meant to be slimmer than the Juice Pack Plus, the case itself will still make your iPhone 6 bulky. As a plus, however, the case will definitely protect your iPhone from accidents.
It is definitely far more convenient to carry an iPhone on a battery case compared to carrying a separate portable battery with charging cable. It also means that you can do a recharge anytime you like without hassle. To start charging your iPhone 6, flip the switch located at the back of the case. To stop charging, flip the switch back. This is unlike some other battery cases that will continuously charge the phone once hooked.
A small button at the back of the case is used to monitor how much charge you have left on the case (with the help of 4 LED power indicators). There are also 2 speaker grills at the front to redirect iPhone’s audio towards you. It offers a better experience while listening to music or watching YouTube videos.
There are also openings for the cameras and audio jack, and all buttons work well while protected. However, the buttons are quite stiff and you can’t plug your earphones jack unless if you carry & plug the extension (included in the packaging).
Overall, having the Mophie Juice Pack Air around with you at all times means that you will always have enough charge to last through the day, while making sure that your iPhone is protected. If you don’t mind the extra bulk and a few other minor annoyances, grab a Mophie Juice Pack Air or the Plus. Available in Black, Gold, and White.
