Dyson releases its first high-fidelity headphones: the Dyson OnTrac

Gone are the days when Dyson was only popular for its bladeless fans and vacuum cleaners (make sure you check for their reviews here at Craving Tech). As of today, Dyson has made a bold entrance into the audio market with its first high-fidelity, audio-only headphones: the Dyson OnTrac. These headphones promise to deliver best-in-class noise cancellation and up to 55 hours of immersive listening.

The OnTrac boasts a custom Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) algorithm that samples external sound 384,000 times per second using eight microphones. This technology, combined with superior materials and carefully designed internal geometry, cancels up to 40dB of unwanted noise.

Equipped with 40mm, 16-ohm neodymium speaker drivers and advanced audio signal processing, the OnTrac reproduces frequencies from 6Hz to 21kHz. This wide range ensures deep, feel-able sub-bass and crystal-clear highs. The speaker housing is tilted 13° towards the ear for a more direct audio response.

Certified comfortable by US Ergonomics, the OnTrac features high-grade foam cushions, multi-pivot gimbal arms, and strategically positioned batteries in the headband for even weight distribution. Soft micro-suede ear cushions and optimised clamp force provide a consistent fit across diverse head sizes.

The OnTrac comes in four base colourways: CNC Aluminium, CNC Copper, Ceramic Mandarin, and CNC Black Nickel. Users can further customise their headphones with over 2,000 colour combinations for outer caps and ear cushions.

The MyDyson app offers real-time sound tracking, alerting users to potentially harmful volume levels. It also allows users to choose between three custom EQ modes. Additional features include Head Detect for automatic pause/play, an intuitive joystick for controls, and crystal-clear call quality.

The Dyson OnTrac will be available to order in Australia from 5 September 2024. With its combination of cutting-edge technology, customisable style, and Dyson’s reputation for innovation, these headphones are set to make waves in the audio market. We will have to wait though to be able to compare the audio quality to other popular headphones in the market from Bose, Sony, and other well-known brands in the audio industry.

Dyson OnTrac will retail for A$799.
