You must have seen the foodora couriers, at least once. If not, keep your eyes open on the streets (and not on the phone) because these guys are everywhere.
I’ve seen them more and more often for the past month – foodora courier bike riders delivering meals to hungry ones around my apartment block, too busy (or lazy) to go outside to grab a meal.
Foodora has actually been in the business for more than a year (known as “Suppertime” back in 1985), though the “foodora” rebrand only happened recently on March 8, 2016. It’s a global company serving around 33 cities in 10 countries.
Foodora supports more than 850 restaurants in Australia by the time this article is written. Check the restaurants list on their website or if you see a foodora-supported sign at your favourite restaurants.
At the moment, foodora operates in Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane but we’re confident that the service will launch in other major cities around Australia soon, as Toon Gyssals, Co-founder and CEO of foodra puts it:
“We have some great product improvements in the pipeline and a number of high calibre partnerships lined up, as well as plans to expand further into new areas throughout our cities.”
How to order food and get it delivered to you through foodora? Pretty easy, really. You can either download and use a foodora app on your smartphone, or order through the foodora website.
The delivery cost will then be displayed along with your order, which is a $5 delivery cost flat fee.
I tried ordering some Korean fried chicken for my first order with foodora and really happy to see the chicken was still crispy and hot. Will definitely be ordering through these guys again on rainy or cold days ahead!
According to the statistics from foodora Australia, just this year alone, foodora’s cyclists have covered 38,062 km in total!
If you are hungry and the weather is not permitting, or if you are just too busy to get out, make sure to give these guys a try.
