With iPad 2 limited stock, many have gone frustrated and thinking to find a good iPad alternative (well some still choose to wait in frustration for their iPad 2). Motorola XOOM is one of the best iPad alternatives (the other one is Samsung Galaxy tab) that I’ve heard of on the net. Motorola announced yesterday that the Motorola XOOM will launch on Telstra Next G network next month (May 2011).
The Motorola XOOM has a 1 GHZ dual-core processor, 1 GB RAM, 32 GB storage memory, front and rear facing cameras, and runs on the Android 3 (Honeycomb) platform. It has a 10.1 inch widescreen display (1280 x 800 resolution) so it’s a great tablet to browse the net, read e-magazines, and watch movies anywhere you are. The front-facing camera is a 2 Megapixels camera and the rear one is a 5 Megapixels. Although I find it funny to swing around a tablet to take photos, some will definitely appreciate a higher resolution camera.
According to Warwick Bray, Telstra Mobility Products Executive Director, the Motorola XOOM combined with the fastest national mobile broadband network will be loved by Australian consumers who want to enjoy video, mobile web browsing, gaming, and magazines on the go. “Motorola XOOM will delight customers with its ease of use, speed and vivid graphics, as well as its Motorola Smart Accessories”, says Timo Brouwer, Motorola Mobility ANZ and South Pacific managing director.
The Motorola XOOM supports up to 10 hours of video playback and can be charged in just 3.5 hours, according to the product’s official spec. The recommended retail price and further details will be announced later nearer to launch.
