OPPO Australia has unveiled its newest entry-level handset, the OPPO A80, priced at A$369. This latest addition to the A Series brings advanced durability and AI-enhanced features to the table, marking a significant leap forward in affordable smartphone technology.
The OPPO A80 boasts a 360° Damage-Proof Armour Body, designed to withstand everyday impacts. Its reinforced internal structure and Panda Glass screen cover offer twice the protection of standard models. The Anti-Drop Shield Case (separate purchase) further enhances durability, allowing the phone to survive 450 tumble rotations unscathed—a 200% increase in protection compared to the uncased phone.
Despite its robust construction, the A80 maintains a sleek profile at just 7.68mm thick and weighing approximately 186g. Available in Moonlight Purple and Starry Black, the device sports a glossy middle frame and an angular rectangular camera area.
At the heart of the A80’s appeal is its 120Hz Ultra Bright Display which is awesome at this price. The 6.67-inch screen boasts a maximum brightness of 1,000 nits in sunlight and a typical brightness of 850 nits, outperforming competitors in its price range. This high-performance display makes the A80 an ideal choice for gaming and multimedia consumption.
Powering the device is a 5,100mAh Hyper-Energy Battery, complemented by 45W SUPERVOOC Flash Charge technology. This combination ensures long-lasting performance and rapid charging, with the battery reaching 100% in just 74 minutes.
Under the hood, the A80 runs on the 6nm MediaTek Dimensity 6300 5G mobile platform, offering improved power efficiency and 5G capabilities. With 8GB of RAM (expandable by an additional 8GB) and 256GB of storage, the A80 delivers smooth performance across multiple applications.
Photography enthusiasts will appreciate the 50MP AI Dual Camera setup and 8MP Selfie Camera. Features like Portrait Mode, AI Portrait Retouching, and Dual-view Video expand creative possibilities for users.
Perhaps most notably, the OPPO A80 introduces generative AI technology to the A Series for the first time. Michael Tran, Managing Director of OPPO Australia, stated, “This year, OPPO will equip more than 50 million users’ phones with generative AI technology globally.” The A80 includes AI LinkBoost for stable connections in weak signal areas and AI Eraser for seamless object removal from images.
