OPPO’s New A-Series Smartphones: Tough Tech at Tempting Prices

OPPO has unveiled two budget-friendly additions to its A-series lineup, combining durability with design. The OPPO A60 5G and OPPO A40, priced at A$299 and A$259 respectively, follow the brand’s commitment to delivering high-quality, resilient devices without breaking the bank.

These new models boast impressive durability features that set them apart in the budget smartphone market. Both the A60 5G and A40 have achieved MIL-STD 810H Certification for Military-Grade Shock Resistance, ensuring they can withstand everyday bumps and drops. The IP54 rating for water and dust resistance adds another layer of protection, safeguarding against accidental spills and environmental hazards.

One standout feature is the innovative Splash Touch technology, which maintains touch accuracy even when the screen is wet. This practical addition enhances usability in various outdoor scenarios, from poolside use to unexpected rain showers. It’s the only complain coming from users using fingerprint unlock in any device and looks like OPPO has found a way around it.

Speaking of battery life, both models are equipped with a robust 5,100mAh Hyper Energy Battery. This powerhouse can provide up to 14 hours of video playback on a single charge, catering to users’ daily work and entertainment needs. The battery’s longevity is impressive, maintaining at least 80% of its original capacity for over 1,600 charge cycles – equivalent to four years of standard use.

Charging speed hasn’t been overlooked either. The 45W SUPERVOOC Flash Charge technology can juice up the phone to 45% in just 30 minutes and reach full charge in 75 minutes. A Smart Charging feature adapts to individual charging habits, promoting safer charging and prolonging battery lifespan. Sure, it’s not the OPPO’s awesome 80W SUPERVOOC in Reno12 Pro 5G, but it is still something.

When it comes to performance, the A60 5G is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 Mobile Platform, delivering smooth 5G connectivity. It boasts a 120Hz Ultra Bright Display with up to 1,000 nits of peak brightness, ensuring clear visibility even in bright sunlight. The A40, while 4G-only, packs a punch with its Snapdragon 6s 4G Gen1 Mobile Platform, offering solid performance for gaming and media consumption.

Both models feature a 50MP Ultra-Clear Main Camera and a 5MP Selfie Camera, allowing users to capture high-quality images for social media, work, or personal use. Additional features like AI Portrait Retouching and Turbo Torch with adjustable brightness levels enhance the photography experience.

Design-wise, OPPO hasn’t compromised on aesthetics. Both models sport sleek, lightweight frames measuring just 7.68mm in thickness. The A60 5G comes in Nebula Red and Ocean Blue, while the A40 offers Starlight White and Sparkle Black options. Each colour is crafted using the OPPO Glow process, resulting in a shimmering, fingerprint-resistant finish.

OPPO seems to have struck an impressive balance with these new A-series models. They’ve managed to pack in features typically associated with more expensive devices – like military-grade durability and fast charging – while keeping the price point accessible. It’s a smart move that could appeal to budget-conscious consumers who don’t want to sacrifice quality or longevity.

The OPPO A60 5G and A40 are available now from major retailers including JB Hi-Fi, Officeworks, Big W, Harvey Norman, The Good Guys, and the OPPO Australia Online Store.
