Remember the iconic Beats Pill? It’s back

Beats has just announce the return of its iconic Beats Pill portable speaker, now completely redesigned and reengineered to deliver an unparalleled audio experience. As a refresher, I actually reviewed the original back in 2013 (yeah, it has been THAT long!).

With enhanced sound quality, improved portability, and an array of new features, the Beats Pill is set to reclaim its status as a beloved audio companion. Available starting today in Matte Black, Statement Red, and Champagne Gold, the new Beats Pill is priced at $249.95 AUD and can be ordered from apple.com.

The new Beats Pill is engineered to deliver superior sound, whether you’re indoors or out. Its upgraded acoustic architecture offers more powerful, room-filling sound, deeper bass, and enhanced tonal clarity across the audio spectrum. Key improvements include:

  • Racetrack Woofer: A completely reengineered racetrack woofer with stronger neodymium magnets provides 28% more motor force and displaces 90% more air volume. Radial ribbing minimises low-end distortion, even at high volumes.
  • Redesigned Tweeter: Secured in its own housing for stability, the redesigned tweeter ensures crisp highs and rich mid-range tones.
  • Streamlined Design: A 20-degree upward tilt enhances on-axis sound projection, minimising reflected sound for a cleaner audio experience.

The Beats Pill is also designed for ultimate portability. It’s 10% lighter than its predecessor and features a removable carry lanyard and soft-grip silicone backing. With an IP67 rating for dust and water resistance, this speaker is built to withstand the elements.

Additionally, the Beats Pill serves as an excellent speakerphone, leveraging Beats’ proprietary noise-learning algorithm to suppress unwanted background noise and enhance voice clarity.

The Beats Pill offers seamless compatibility with both iOS and Android devices, providing instant one-touch pairing and automatic synchronisation across your devices. Features include Bluetooth connectivity, on-device controls, and party sync (where you can sync two Beats Pill speakers) to enable Amplify or Stereo Mode.

How’s the battery life? You can enjoy up to 24 hours of continuous playback with the Beats Pill. If you need a quick charge, Fast Fuel technology provides 2 hours of music playback from just a 10-minute charge. Plus, you can use the Beats Pill and its included USB-C cable to charge your phone or enjoy lossless audio from your laptop or other devices.
