I still remember the day when I accidentally misplaced my jeans with my Sony Ericsson T630 phone inside the pocket, into the washing machine. To add to the amusement, I then placed it into my dryer for about half an hour. I then heard some funny noise which triggered me to double check and find my poor phone.
The phone couldn’t be turned on anymore, obviously. I then “disassembled” the phone, hoping that the components would dry up somehow and things would work again. However, that didn’t stop me to start browsing for new phones, just in case. Yeah, it’s hard to live even one day without your phone, right?
Things got better on the next day as my phone was working again as it should be (and as if it didn’t go through the ordeal at all). Now, I’m not sure what would I do if it happens today, with all these fancy smartphones we own. It is as if your life is on our smartphone: personal photos, important documents, social connections, and more.
A nice infographic by Asurion, a technology protection company, shows that there were millions of people who lost their phones due to these mobile mishaps (coffee spilled, theft, accidents, and more):
